Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
I want the process of creating your piece to be as straightforward as possible, so these terms explain how bookings, payments, artwork, delivery and cancellations work.
By Eleanor Grace is a Manchester-based independent creative business creating bespoke, hand-painted artwork and personalised pieces.
1. Enquiries and quotes
Every commission is bespoke, so prices shown on the website are starting prices unless stated otherwise.
Once you send an enquiry, I’ll chat through your ideas, requirements, timeframe and availability with you before providing a personalised quote.
A quote will set out the agreed piece, price and any relevant delivery or collection costs.
A quote is valid for the period stated on the quote. Prices may need to be updated if the requirements of a commission change after the quote has been agreed.
2. Booking your commission
A £50 deposit is required to secure your commission date.
Your commission isn’t confirmed until the deposit has been received and I have confirmed your booking.
The deposit secures the time set aside for your commission and allows me to begin preparing your design.
3. Design and approval
Once your commission is booked, I’ll work with you to bring together the colours, wording, personal details and other elements you’d like included.
For commissions that include a design mock-up, I’ll send this to you for review before I begin painting.
We can make reasonable changes at this stage so that you’re happy with the overall design.
Once the design has been approved and painting has started, significant changes may not be possible or may result in an additional charge depending on the amount of extra work involved.
4. Your responsibilities
When you provide photographs, artwork, wording, logos or other materials for your commission, you confirm that you have permission to provide them for this purpose.
Please check names, dates, wording and other personal details carefully before approving your design. I’ll do my best to make sure everything is correct, but I can’t be responsible for errors that have been approved by you.
5. Handmade artwork
Every piece is painted by hand, so small variations in colour, brushwork and detail are part of the handmade nature of the artwork.
Colours may also appear slightly different on different screens and in different lighting.
These variations are not considered faults and are part of what makes each piece unique.
6. Customer-supplied items
If you provide your own mirror, frame, hat or another item for me to paint, you are responsible for making sure it is suitable for the agreed artwork and for getting it to me safely.
I’ll take reasonable care of customer-supplied items while they are with me, but I can’t be responsible for pre-existing damage, weaknesses or issues that were already present.
If I believe an item isn’t suitable for the planned artwork, I’ll let you know before starting.
7. Payment
The remaining balance is due before collection or delivery, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
I’ll confirm the final balance and any delivery costs with you before the piece is completed.
I reserve the right not to release a finished piece until the full balance has been received.
8. Timescales
I generally recommend allowing 2–3 months for a commission, although this can vary depending on the size, complexity and number of pieces being created.
Your expected timeframe will be discussed when your commission is booked.
For wedding commissions, I recommend booking as early as possible to make sure there is enough time for design, painting and any delivery or collection arrangements.
I’ll always do my best to keep you updated if anything unexpected affects your timeframe.
9. Collection and delivery
Smaller pieces may be available for UK delivery.
Larger mirrors and artwork may require collection or local delivery around Manchester depending on the size and nature of the piece.
Any delivery or collection arrangements and associated costs will be agreed with you before your commission is completed.
Once an item has been handed to a third-party courier, their terms and conditions may also apply.
10. Cancellations
If you need to cancel a commission, please contact me as soon as possible.
As every commission is personalised and time is set aside specifically for each booking, the amount of any refund will depend on the stage of the commission, work already completed and costs already incurred.
Where applicable, your statutory rights as a consumer will always apply.
Some personalised or made-to-order goods may be exempt from the usual 14-day cancellation right. I’ll provide the relevant information when your order is confirmed.
If I need to cancel a commission due to circumstances beyond my reasonable control, I’ll contact you as soon as possible and discuss the available options with you.
11. If something goes wrong
I want you to be happy with your piece. If there is a problem with your order, please contact me as soon as possible at hello@byeleanorgrace.co.uk and I’ll do my best to resolve it.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
12. Copyright and artwork
I retain copyright in the original artwork and designs I create.
Once you’ve paid for your commission in full, you can enjoy and display your finished piece for personal use.
You must not reproduce, sell or commercially use my artwork or designs without my written permission.
13. Sharing finished commissions
I love being able to share finished pieces on my website and social media, but I won’t automatically share personal photographs or identifiable information relating to you or your event.
If I’d like to share your finished piece, I may ask for your permission first.
14. Changes to these terms
I may update these terms from time to time if my business, processes or the law changes.
The version that applies to your commission will be the version in place when your booking is confirmed.
15. Privacy
Information you provide to me is handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy, which explains what information I collect, why I use it and how I keep it safe.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
